Teeth whitening

Teeth tartar and yellowing problems may occur due to consuming too much caffeine drinks such as coffee and tea, smoking, or genetic predisposition. This problem, experienced in all teeth, creates sensitivity to hot and cold drinks. To prevent this, the teeth whitening method applied in Rize dental clinic prevents these problems and also gives the teeth an aesthetic appearance.

How is teeth whitening applied? Is whitening just an aesthetic application? These points will be explained in the article.

How is Teeth Whitening Applied?

Teeth whitening, which is needed for many reasons, is decided upon by the common consensus of Rize dentists and the patient. Before starting this procedure, it is checked whether there are any problems caused by decay or infection in the tooth. For this purpose, x-rays are taken. If there are different procedures, the dentist first informs the patient about performing these procedures.

After the filling or root canal treatments are completed, the patient undergoes a single or one more session of whitening, which may vary depending on the tartar. Before teeth whitening, the teeth are thoroughly cleaned and the tartar, especially in areas close to the gums, is removed and the teeth are relieved. This treatment is then applied using two different methods:

1. Office Type Whitening Method

This method, which takes place in Rize dental clinic, involves taking the patient into the session room and then starting the procedures. If there is tartar in areas very close to the gums, the patient is exposed to very little anesthesia and the procedure is continued. After cleaning the teeth, gel is used for whitening purposes. This process takes a total of 1 hour and the aim is to lighten the teeth by 3-4 shades.

2. Home Application Method

A mold that fits the patient's teeth is created. This mold contains a whitening gel inside. The patient is expected to keep this pattern for 7-9 hours during the day. This home-based teeth whitening method usually takes 2 weeks. The patient is checked at intervals and the process is monitored.

Are Whitening Procedures the Definitive Solution?

There are dental structures that differ greatly from person to person. Therefore, tooth brushing routines, dental floss use, and the susceptibility of teeth to decay may vary. Tartar formation on teeth may also be due to genetic reasons. The solution is not teeth whitening, it is to look at the teeth regularly after the teeth whitening process and not to neglect the check-ups.
